The Ferris Project
I have a life-long dream I am going to start fulfilling for myself this summer. I am going to re-live Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I have begun to gather the all the locations of the events in Ferris' infamous ditch day. It seems very possible, since most of the locations are here in the Chicago suburbs. I will attempt to take a photo of myself in front of every location/event and post them on my blog as well as create a really nice scrap book to hand down to my children and their children's children.
Here is what I have so far:
- The outside school scenes were shot at Glenbrook North High School, 2300 Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL 60062. Whilst the interior of Shermer High School is shot in the former Maine North High School (same as The Breakfast Club)
- The Pizza parlor scene was shot in Brentwood, California, USA
- The exterior shots of the Bueller home were shot at Long Beach, California, USA in the 4000 block of Country Club Drive.
- The Blue "Save Ferris" Watertower, is off of Cedar Road next to the Northbrook Public Library, Northbrook, IL
- Katie Bueller's real estate office, Koenig & Strey Office - 583 Chestnut St., Winnetka, Illinois, USA
- The art exhibition they visit is the Art Institute of Chicago, 111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60603.
- After Cameron freaks out in the car they take him to Glencoe Beach, at the end of Park Street on Lake Michigan in Glencoe, IL
- The Cubs game is of course at Wrigley Field - Section 102, Row 15 for those of you scoring at home
- The tower they look down on Chicago from is of course the Sears Tower
- The stock exchange they visit is The Chicago Board of Trade
- Von Steuben German Day Parade, Saturday, September 8, 2007 2:00 PM - starts at 4000 N Lincoln Ave to Wilson Ave, continue north on Western Ave and end in the Festival area. The reviewing stand will be at Leland/Western Ave.
- Cameron's house and the Ferrari garage (also known as the Ben Rose Auto Museum) are located at 370 Beech Street in Highland Park, IL (The garage is off the street a bit, and the entrance to it is not clear because it is not attached to the actual house. The driveway to the garage seems to be off of a street just west of the house, but it is private property).
- The orange sculpture Cameron and Sloan walk by is located near the corner of Dearborn and Adams in Chicago, IL
